January is a great month to start new. For me, I'm going to start new by focusing more on my blogs and websites. Reviewing what I did last year and noting what worked and what didn't. Keyword research is an area that I don't spend much time on, yet is huge for driving people to your websites or blog. Without the right keywords your site or blog will end up in cyber never-never land, and you sure don't want that to happen.

How to Upgrade your Smilebox Design

You can upgrade your Smilebox designs in the Send screen. When you are ready to send your creation, you are prompted to enter the email address(es) of your recipient(s). Once you've entered your list of people and your message, you are taken to the Send My Creation screen.

Here you have the choice to send a free basic version, to buy that individual design template or to join Club Smilebox. You can purchase an individual design template from the "Send My Creation" screen or join Club Smilebox. A premium design can display full-screen, is sent without ads, has broader music options, and can be printed by you or by your recipient.

If you purchase a design template, you can update and resend creations based on that template as many times as you wish for the one-time purchase fee.

If you choose to Club Smilebox, members get unlimited use of Premium designs for a monthly or annual subscription fee. There is a 2-week free trial so you can try the subscription before being billed.

As a Club Smilebox subscriber, all design templates are available to you as Premium designs - they play with the ability for full-screen viewing, without ads, have more music options, and can be printed by you and by the person you email the Smilebox to. You can update them and resend them as often as you wish. Note that this available while you are an active subscriber. If you opt to unsubscribe, designs revert to basic mode unless you purchase an individual design.

What is Panini - actually one should ask - What are Panini?
Panini are sandwiches made in a panini grill. In English panini is referred to as one sandwich as well as multiple sandwiches (paninis) when actually the individual sandwich is a panino and multiple sandwiches are panini.
In Italian, panino referrs to a small bread roll and a panino imbottito refers to a sandwich (which literally means stuffed panino).
Panini are tradionally made with ciabatta bread, sliced meat and cheese, lightly buttered and grilled.
Special grills, called panini grills are used to make these sandwiches. These grills, which are common though-out italy, are gaining populatity here in America.

Caramel popcorn is one of my family's favourite treats. We often make it to give away as gifts or to eat just for ourselves! For added decadence, melt some milk chocolate and drizzle it over the cooled caramel popcorn. It is so amzingly good.

And then check out the dozens of great Valentine photo egreetings from Smilebox – the perfect way for cupid to deliver your video masterpiece!

Make a free ecard - it's easy!

1. Let the sun shine in. Digital cameras offer little lighting control, so throw open the blinds or film outdoors to provide maximum light and create a better video clip.

2. Frame your subject. Before filming, think about what’s behind the subject that you won’t want your viewers to see. It could be a pile of paperwork or yet-to-be-folded laundry or a random looker-on. Avoid distracting items and find a neutral and pleasant background.

3. Plan your message. Before hitting record, think about what you want to say. You don’t want to sound rehearsed, but a little forethought will save you from countless retakes. I actually write out 4 to 5 words that remind me of the points I want to make, review the list and then throw it away. This way, the order of the words keeps me on track without memorizing the entire message.

4. Shorter is better. This is one of the few times it’s good to be short. Keep your clip to just 10 to 15 seconds to avoid boring your viewers. No matter how funny or precious, no one has the time or the patience to watch much more than that.

5. Interview the kids. Even a well-rehearsed kid can freeze up once the red light is on, so consider asking your kids some thoughtful questions. Or have someone else film while you stand just off camera and ask the questions like the professionals do. Answers to questions such as “What are your favorite things to do with Daddy,” “What is your favorite memory from when you were little,” and “What about Mommy makes you smile,” will tug at your heart and will become keepsake clips for years to come.

6. Keep your camera handy. Some of the most memorable video comes from those spur-of-the-moment opportunities. The great compact size of the new digital cameras lets you tuck it in your bag, pocket or kitchen drawer. Make it a habit to routinely recharge the batteries and/or keep a spare. You’ll be ready to capture first steps, first words and first dates.

7. Easy on pans and zooms. You don’t want to make your viewers dizzy so use the pan and zoom controls sparingly. And, when you do use them, use a speed that seems even overly slow and it will turn out just right.

8. Avoid the nostrils. Keep the camera at a level slightly above your subject and your viewers won’t be looking up their nose. And, it’s just a more flattering angle for most people.

9. Narrate when necessary. You don’t have to provide a play-by-play color commentary of your baby crawling across the floor, but sometimes a contextual narrative helps your viewers understand what they’re seeing. And remember to remind viewers – and yourself years later – about details such as age, grade, school, position or team name.

10. Editing makes perfect. While you need not strive for perfection, there are many easy, free video editing programs that will get you close. Movie Maker is a good example and it comes with most new PCs as well as iMovie which ships on iMacs.

I put in my search requirements - digital point and shoot, auction ending today and priced under $100.00. Sure enough there were lots. I lost the first two auctions, then I realized that you can enter a "maximun' bid on any item that is being auctioned at any time and ebay will bid on it for you up to your maximum! That was so cool. I put in the max amount I wanted to spend on the camera and ebay took care of the rest. You can even watch the bidding too. well I got the camera for $82.00, (60 for the camera, 12 for shipping) It will be a great starter camera for her.
